Job Title: Maintenance Operator II - Mechanical Technician

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible to Understand and Maintain a Good Working Knowledge of the various Power Plant Technical Systems. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing mechanical PM’s, welding on plate and pipe, perform alignments, troubleshooting equipment, ability to read prints, perform mechanical maintenance on pumps, piping, and equipment. Perform the use of hand tools, power tools, drill press, lathe, grinder, and threader. Also, the ability to use an overhead crane, rigging, and performance tools.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Troubleshoot, identify, maintain, and make repairs to power plant equipment. Perform Lockout/Tag out of equipment for maintenance work following the Fossil Tagging Procedure.

2.  Specific knowledge and use of mechanical measuring devices, hand tools, shop machines, welding, laser alignment tools, and overhead cranes.

3.  Be familiar with principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, and valves of all types.

4.  Comply with all Fossil Safety Procedures and Policies.

5.  Step-up to Temporary Supervisor.

6.  Be available to work overtime as needed. Be willing to work under unusual as well as normal working conditions pertaining to a power plant environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • Desired:
    • Associate’s degree in Welding, Machinist, or Mechanics

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Maintenance Operator III: 1-3 years of experience in an industrial Mechanical Role or similar field
  • Maintenance Operator: 3 years’ experience in an Industrial Mechanical Role or similar field
  • Maintenance Technician: 5 years power plant experience or equivalent experience in a plant similar to a power plant working in Mechanical Maintenance
  • Desired:
    • 5 years of experience in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Knowledge and demonstrated capabilities in the diagnoses and repairs pumps, valves, piping, bearings, rigging, overhead lifting, and ability to weld.
  • Proficient running drill press, lathes, hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring tools.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated capabilities welding, alignments, rigging, operating overhead and mobile cranes.
  • Ability to read Prints and Troubleshoot and Maintain Plant Mechanical Equipment
  • The ability to lift 100lbs. The ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
  • The ability to climb scaffolds, stairs, and ladders.
  • Must be Team Oriented and Self-Motivated. Must possess the initiative to perform task independently, provide timely and concise feedback upon request. Possess a winning attitude to achieve Departmental, Plant and Corporate Goals.
  • Should possess basic computer knowledge to obtain the required skills needed to use the Entergy Fossil Applications Time and Labor (Electronic Timesheet Application) and AIMM (Maintenance Management System) and Maximo.

Any certifications, licenses, etc.

  • Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test
