Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Officer to support the day to day operations of Townsville Shopping Centre. Working closely with the Centre Management team, this role plays a key part in maintaining high standards of presentation, safety and functionality, while supporting positive experiences for retailers, customers and stakeholders.

About the role

  • Maintain the day to day operation of the Centre, including buildings, plant, equipment and grounds
  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance and respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns
  • Identify issues, troubleshoot and complete repairs safely and efficiently
  • Undertake minor maintenance works including painting, basic plumbing, lighting, tiling, gardening and plant room upkeep
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and support compliance with legislative and industry standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection and incident records
  • Support workplace health and safety requirements, including emergency response and business continuity planning
  • Assist with sustainability initiatives including energy, water and waste management
  • Build positive and professional working relationships with tenants, contractors and Centre stakeholders

About you

  • Experience in a maintenance, facilities, labouring or similar role, ideally within a retail or commercial environment
  • A sound understanding of building services, plant and general maintenance operations, or a willingness to develop these skills
  • Strong practical problem solving and troubleshooting capability
  • An understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Well organised, with strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping skills
  • Clear and respectful communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) for basic tracking, reporting and communication
  • A dependable team member who can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative environment
