Who is Big Brown House?

Big Brown House (BBH) is a community-based organisation focused on providing holistic family support and child protection. As a provider of choice across NSW, Big Brown House supports Children and Young People in the community with Emergency Care, Support Services, Foster Care and Respite.

Big Brown House is an accredited Out of Home Care Provider, providing a range of services to support safe, stable and nurturing homes, for children and young people who are vulnerable, so they can reach their full potential.

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Officer on a casual basis (2-3 days per week)

Reporting to the Property team, the Maintenance Officer will be responsible for managing the property management requirements to ensure continuity of services and high-quality facilities across the organisation.

As the Maintenance Officer, you will:

  • Complete outdoor tasks such as gate repairs / replacement, fence repairs, minor paving repairs and removing overhanging branches and other minor household repairs.
  • Upkeep of properties including general handyman jobs such as minor building repairs, patching holes in walls, painting walls, changing / repairing doors and mounting TVs, pictures etc
  • Property set up for new client use, including assembling and moving furniture.
  • Maintenance of a safe work environment in line with WHS procedures and ensuring properties/vehicles meet WHS requirements.
  • Removal of rubbish from properties
  • Manage the repair/maintenance process end to end.
  • Compliance with organisational policy and procedure.

About you:

  • Experience in residential property facilities maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively and safely use hand tools and operate some basic powered equipment including hedge trimmer, pressure cleaner etc.

Other requirements:

  • Clear and current National Criminal History Check
  • Working With Children Check clearance
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet reasonable demands of the position
