About RSPCA Queensland

For nearly 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals - whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.

Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.

About the Role

Join RSPCA Queensland as a Maintenance Officer, supporting our Asset Management team to keep our facilities safe, functional and fit for purpose across Southeast Queensland.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days look the same. You’ll be out on-site completing maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, supporting preventative works and helping ensure our campuses operate smoothly for both people and animals.

From minor repairs to inspections and grounds upkeep, your work will directly contribute to creating safe, welcoming environments that support animal care and welfare.

What We’re Looking For

You’re someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly. You’re reliable, organised and proactive, with a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to safety and quality.

You’re comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and you bring a solutions-focused mindset to everything you do. Whether it’s fixing an issue, identifying a risk or coordinating with contractors, you approach tasks with care and attention to detail.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Perform general maintenance and minor repairs across multiple Southeast QLD sites.
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance works.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, risks or hazards across sites.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, including providing site access.
  • Maintain grounds, ensuring spaces are clean, safe and well-presented.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all maintenance records and job notes are accurately completed.
  • Support equipment upkeep and recommend repairs or replacements where needed.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with day-to-day operational tasks.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance, building services or a similar hands-on role.
  • Relevant trade qualifications and/or practical industry experience.
  • Current driver’s licence and White Card.
  • Sound understanding of building maintenance principles and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills with a focus on documentation and follow-through.
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities.
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety, with knowledge of WHS practices.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and a strong customer service mindset.

Why Join Us?

  • Comprehensive Support: Enjoy 8 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible working arrangements, study leave, and even leave for your furry companions. We also provide access to counselling and mental health services.
  • Employee Perks: From free on-site parking to exclusive discounts, novated leases, and 50% off Royal Canin pet food, we’ve got you covered! You can also adopt a new furry friend with free adoption options.
  • Professional Growth: Access expansive learning and development programs to help you elevate your career and skill set.
  • Purpose-Driven Impact: Be part of a mission-driven organisation where every task makes a tangible difference to animal welfare.

At RSPCA Qld, we encourage you to grow your skills, expand your responsibilities, and explore different career pathways. By enhancing your qualifications and capabilities, you can take advantage of internal opportunities across our many departments - from animal care to operations, outreach, and more.
