Job Description

Work Environment:

This position is based full-time at the Shelbyville, IN manufacturing facility, with regular presence required on the production floor across all shifts, including periodic off-shift, weekend, and holiday coverage to support a 24/7 operation. The plant environment includes exposure to manufacturing conditions typical of automotive glass processing, including heat (tempering/furnace areas), noise, glass handling, forklift and overhead crane traffic, and use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, steel-toed footwear) in designated areas. The role requires the physical ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the facility for extended periods, climb stairs/platforms, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Office time is spent in a standard plant administration setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, plan and execute all Maintenance operations.
  • Provide safe, reliable, ergonomic systems and machines.
  • Ensure that all personnel reporting to this position carry on with their responsibilities in a safe and professional manner.
  • Manage departmental budget, developing strategies to continually improve costs
  • Ensure personnel in this area are kept at the proper competency level through development, apprenticeship, coaching, etc.
  • Ensure that all production – related equipment in the plant is maintained in a state of repair, in order to achieve efficiency and effectiveness with proper uptime, yields and throughput.
  • Work with engineering department to ensure new equipment meets maintenance requirements.
  • Utilize engineering resources when plant issues require a higher level of intervention.
  • Leads and manages a reliability centered maintenance (RCM) system to ensure optimum equipment reliability and process effectiveness.
  • Audits preventative/predictive inspections and programs that support RCM to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement compliance.
  • Participates in team analysis for problem solving of major breakdowns.
  • Manages the daily maintenance and shutdown activities within budgeted dollars, manning and material resources.
  • Standardize and maintain across all lines best workmanship best practices.
  • To instigate studies and actions to overcome technical downtime problems, to reduce waste and improve team performance.
  • Lead and manage the maintenance department toward a total preventive maintenance program to enhance link between maintenance and production.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels to ensure matters of mutual concern are addressed and resolved.
  • Ensure employees are provided appropriate guidance, counseling, or recognition on matters related to job performance and absenteeism. Maintain constructive and candid relationships by addressing issues in a timely manner.
  • Direct and coordinate problem solving activities and continuous improvement activities.
  • Management to ensure that the spare parts meet the engineering standards, updating engineering standards as required. Reducing spare part inventory by parts planning through preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Initiate capex plans to ensure that these meet business needs.
  • Application of RCM analysis to the commissioning of new plant equipment and other systems to ensure that this introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and within minimum disruption.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technically related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to interact with a wide variety of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines.
  • 7 to 10 years manufacturing experience in the areas of engineering, supervision and production management.
  • Minimum 5 years experience successfully supervising people in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with reliability centered maintenance: Management of CMMS, Pdm, PM, TPM.
  • Strong in results oriented, adaptable, standards driven, developing, influential and informative competencies.
  • Dynamic individual who leads by example.
  • Flexible, understands there is more than one way to accomplish a goal.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and have the determination to succeed in a challenging environment.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work towards project objectives with minimal supervision.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Five years of maintenance management experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt training
  • Strong in analytical, innovative and strategic competencies

Salary Range depending on experience - $117,000+ (Potential Manager Bonus @ 20%)

Core Hours: Day Shift hours - flexible start time - 7am-9am - Monday/Friday
