Job Location: Kilgore Plant - Kilgore, TX 75662, PURPOSE: The Maintenance Mechanic will assist the Maintenance team in achieving the maintenance department’s goals by focusing on continuous and expedited reductions in Mean Time between Failures (MTBF), and equipment related process variation. Managing multiple projects as well as helping to provide support to the Productions, Engineering, Quality, Machine Shop, Warehouse, and EHS departments for a 24 hour, 7 days per week operations while dealing with the multiple priorities of a fast-paced, manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cope with unforeseen situations, i.e., problems with process, machine speeds, reoccurring defects, detection/correction of unsafe conditions, detection/correction of machinery problem issues, discovery of improper types of defective components.
• Provide hands-on help on the production floor with maintenance mechanics.
• Machine rebuilds/modifications and fabrication of all types.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly working area. Be held accountable for all designated areas of 5’s.
• Resource contact to support all phases of the manufacturing operation to achieve efficient running conditions in support of manufacturing performance.
• Operate equipment to test its functioning and overall performance.

Assume a leading role of all new projects from the initial concept to total completion. Including all aspects of a new project, i.e. compiling list of needed equipment, parts, etc. along with the construction, fabrication and assembly of all associated equipment that may come with any new project and see them through to final completion. May include working over normal workday, late evenings and weekends when needed.

• Operate hand tools and power tools, as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and in a timely manner.
• Accountable for the completion of all his eMaint DM WOR’s on time and in the moment.
• Assist the maintenance supervisor in assuring that all mechanics follow the procedure for PM, DM WOR’s and leading indicators.
• Ensure that (where applicable) the supply chain is made aware of their food safety obligations as our partner in the quest to deliver a safe product to the consuming public.
• Support the maintenance supervisor with day-to-day tasks within the maintenance department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• No supervisory responsibilities.

Educational and Other Skill Requirements: EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 3-5 years injection molding experience
• Prefer three to five years’ experience managing people in a manufacturing organization, preferably in compression or injection molding processes and in the production area utilizing such equipment
• Mechanical aptitude
• Basic Computer skills
• Must have understanding and troubleshooting knowledge of closure manufacturing and support equipment, i.e., liners, assemblies, scorers, palletizer, etc.
• Knowledge of inspection technique
