GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Handles all mechanical repairs throughout the hospital, including electrical and plumbing.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs equipment and materials fabrication including miscellaneous installations and repairs (including repairs to wheelchairs and beds); updates and repairs hospital plumbing systems, electrical repairs, light carpentry and other trades. (65%)
  • Responds to service and emergency calls regarding any maintenance repair, electrical or plumbing problem. (25%)
  • Maintains locks and keys and door related apparatus. (5%)
  • Must demonstrate personal accountability for knowledge and application of DOH, Joint Commission and ICRA requirements. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of a wide range of mechanical equipment.

Preferred

  • Stationary Engineering training as well as training in plumbing, HVAC, and/or electrical.
  • Certification in Proper Refrigeration Practices Type I and Type II.
  • Prior mechanical experience including burning and welding.
  • Prior Healthcare Experience.
