Perform all phases of mechanical maintenance throughout the plant, safely and effectively. Meet all company, state and local regulations/policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Perform preventative, corrective and emergency mechanical maintenance on all equipment throughout the plant under the direction of the Operations Manager such as welding, piping and rebuild equipment
    2. Conduct predictive analysis of all systems and equipment
    3. Identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions throughout the plant which includes documenting problem and resolution as well as reporting all problems and resolutions of mechanical malfunctions to the Operations Manager
    4. Perform fire guard duty as well as confined space watch
    5. Participate and complete training programs within the time frame allotted
    6. Observe contract workers when necessary
    7. Maintain work tools and ensure work tools are put in appropriate secure place after using
    8. Enforce and maintain standard safety procedure

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  1. Ability to weld, fit pipe, rebuild equipment, use equipment tools, set and align rotating equipment
  2. Working knowledge of all shop equipment and hand tools including but not limited to drill press, grinder, and band saw
  3. Possess mechanical knowledge in order to identify and correct mechanical malfunctions
  4. Knowledge of cutting and rigging techniques
  5. Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals, instruction sheets, technical data, work orders and mechanical drawings in English
  6. Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, on call duty and emergency call-ins
  7. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  8. Ability to understand and follow instructions given, either verbally or written
  9. Ability to do basic reading, writing, and arithmetic
  10. Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards connected with machine shop and general plant practices with emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance
  11. Ability to operate powered equipment in a safe and efficient manner including but not limited to industrial forklifts and manlifts
  12. Ability to operate hand and powered tools in a safe and efficient manner while on ground surface as well as at heights
  13. Ability to ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES

  1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with strong mechanical aptitude required
  2. experience with computerized maintenance programs (MP2) or similar PM system preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Talking, Hearing, Seeing
  2. Sitting, Standing, Walking, Fingering, Feeling, Grasping, Climbing, and Lifting up to 100lbs
  3. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  4. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  5. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.
  6. The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body.
  7. The workers frequently is in close quarters, crawl space, shafts, manholes, small, enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.
