Maintenance Mechanic
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools,
levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Mobile equipment service and repair/evaluation, re-ordering of parts, housekeeping of shop and other work areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skill/Knowledge Requirement:
Must have experience in Milling, Grinding, Mining or similar industry
Apply mechanical principles in the performance of his job with no supervision.
Tear down and rebuild and install mill parts with no supervision.
Troubleshoot electrical control circuits, read and understand electrical schematics.
Exercise basic leadership and work coordination functions so the crew performs effectively, efficiently, and safely.
Understanding of blueprints and being able to work from blueprints with no supervision.
Become a certified welder. (Type to be determined).Must become certified welder within six months to stay in classification.
Required Activities:Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, and balance while lifting and/or holding 50 lbs. Incumbent must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime.
Education/Experience:High School or equivalent / 3-5 years’ maintenance
