Specialty Operations business unit is accepting online applications for the position Maintenance Mechanic located in Portland, OR through May 28th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (PDT).

The Chevron Willbridge Fuel Terminal and Lubricants Plant is seeking candidates for a full-time position on the maintenance team. Qualified candidates will be required to successfully pass all Chevron onboarding requirements, including aptitude testing, drug testing, fit for duty testing and background checks.

The Maintenance Mechanic works as part of a small team of mechanics responsible for maintenance and repairs of the operations areas of the facility. Facility operations include tasks such as shipping and receiving ships, barges, bulk trucks and railcars, blending lubricants, operating package fill lines, operating forklifts. This is a Union Represented position.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Actively support Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) processes by performing daily activities in accordance with applicable regulations and policies, following safe operating practices, maintaining a safe work environment, and being prepared to respond to environmental or safety events.

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Chevron's Operational Excellence (OE) standards and applicable regulatory and code requirements.

  • Safely execute routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and assessments on facility processes and equipment.

  • Ensure maintenance and mechanical work is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established maintenance processes and procedures.

  • Execute daily work requests and scheduled maintenance activities while documenting technical findings and closing work requests accurately.

  • Help solve manufacturing process issues by working closely with operators and supervisors and implementing contingency plans to maintain supply continuity during serious failures.

  • Continue developing skills and taking on expanded responsibilities as business needs evolve over time.

  • Contribute to continuous productivity improvements in a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Mechanical experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries or relevant industry experience.

  • Flexibility to work on call, weekends, holidays, and overtime in support of facility operations.

  • Proficient with mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs of field equipment such as pumps, rotating equipment, compressors, VRU systems, valves, piping, tanks, packaging equipment, and actuators.

  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow charts, mechanical and technical drawings, cut sheets, schematics, and other equipment details and specifications.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to preventive maintenance methods and processes for mechanical equipment.

  • Proficiency with Excel and email; experience with SAP and PCN systems is a plus.

  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks, including forklifts, pallet trucks, telehandlers, carry decks, platform lifts, pod lifts, utility vehicles, plant vehicles, and similar equipment.

  • Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and rainy conditions.

  • Must not be allergic to additives, fuels, or lubricating oils.

  • This is a safety-sensitive position and requires participation in a DOT Drug and Alcohol random testing program.

  • Must be able to work at heights with appropriate fall protection, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

  • Possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card.

  • This is a Union Represented Position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational training or trade school coursework focused on mechanical work.

  • Certification or licensure in a trade such as welding, pump and valve repair, or a comparable industrial maintenance discipline.

  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), used to centralize maintenance information and support maintenance operations.

  • Familiarity with reliability improvement efforts, such as Lean Sigma and Human and Organizational Performance, that support safety, environmental, and reliability outcomes.

  • HAZWOPER certification.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, adapt to change, manage multiple priorities, and pursue continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers, demonstrating tact, initiative, and self-motivation.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
