Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting the reliable operation of production equipment throughout the facility. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment breakdowns, replaces defective components, and helps minimize downtime to keep production running efficiently.
This is a hands-on maintenance role requiring experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production equipment. The ideal candidate is comfortable diagnosing equipment issues independently, working with maintenance tools and machinery, documenting repairs, and responding to production needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or production equipment maintenance.
- Hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with production equipment and machinery, including bearings, valves, gauges, switches, filters, wiring, and related components.
- Experience with process equipment up to 480V required.
- Ability to read and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance, machine inspections, equipment adjustments, and repair procedures.
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems for completing work orders and documenting maintenance activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- NJ Boiler License preferred but not required.
- Flexibility to work additional hours and respond to equipment breakdowns as production needs require.

Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout the production facility.
- Ability to work around active production machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools and maintenance equipment throughout the shift.
- Ability to access machinery and equipment for inspection, repair, adjustment, and preventive maintenance.
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to support extended hours and respond to equipment breakdowns as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot Production Equipment: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues affecting production machinery.
- Perform Mechanical Repairs: Inspect, repair, and replace components such as bearings, filters, valves, gauges, switches, wiring, and other machine parts.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and preventive maintenance activities to reduce equipment failures.
- Inspect Equipment Components: Examine worn or defective parts, identify potential issues, and determine whether components require repair or replacement.
- Test Equipment Performance: Start and operate machinery following repairs or adjustments to verify proper performance and safe operation.
- Complete Maintenance Work Orders: Use the CMMS system to document completed work, equipment issues, repairs, and continuing maintenance needs.
- Complete Safety Checks: Perform required machine safety checks and follow all established maintenance and workplace safety procedures.
- Support Equipment Improvements: Recommend improvements to equipment and processes that can enhance productivity, reliability, and quality.
- Maintain Shift Continuity: Document and communicate completed repairs, equipment irregularities, unresolved issues, and continuing needs between shifts.
- Maintain Maintenance Standards: Keep the maintenance workshop and work areas clean and organized while following GMP and OSHA requirements.
- Support Production Continuity: Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide additional maintenance support when necessary to keep production operating efficiently.
- Support Emergency Operations: Perform assigned non-management operational functions during emergencies or periods of limited staffing when required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
