Job Description

Job Location Cruz Bay Watersports at The Westin Resort and Villas - St. John, US Virgin Islands 00831 Salary Range $15.00 - $30.00 Hourly

Travel Percentage None

Duties (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE):

  • Perform in all maintenance vessel machinery, systems, and structure in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation and supplemented by best practices unique to the local area.

  • Ensures all vessels comply with contractual obligations relevant to services provided to the public including safety, schedules, fuel use, efficiency, staffing, data collection and reporting, general quality of service, compliance with applicable laws, etc.

  • Monitors and adheres to the approved maintenance plan and all manufacturer recommendations.

  • Comply with weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks for vessels and maintenance oversight and conduct inspection to observe general condition and access maintenance performance.

  • Perform maintenance duties including preventative maintenance.

  • Monitor and maintain local spare parts inventory.

  • Updates maintenance plans periodically with management.

  • Other projects and/or duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Minimum

Qualifications:       

  • High School Diploma or its' equivalent from an accredited institution (Preferred)

  • At least two (2) years of experience in the field of operations and maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to walk on various types of surfaces including rough terrain, sitting, standing, maintaining balance, climbing stairs, ladders, and inclines, working alone and in remote areas.

  • Must be able to work various work settings such as exposure to sunlight, outside temperature extremes, exposure to smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, solvents, and oils.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude of marine vessels (marine diesel engines, Mercury Outboard, Yanmar engines, ZF transmissions).

  • Knowledge of the principles of basic report preparation.

  • Knowledge of the operational characteristics of transit equipment and vessels.

  • Knowledge of vessels regulations and safe vessel practices.

  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of reliable data collection and recordkeeping.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted during the work.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply vessels regulations and safe boat practices.

  • Ability to operate assigned equipment, read and interpret documents.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.

  • Must be able to operate with little or no supervision.

  • Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
