Position Status: This is a non-permanent position. The expected duration of this position is 5 months from the time the employee starts.
Under the supervision of the Construction & Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic 1 independently performs a variety of responsibilities that include general maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction duties. This position will utilize a working knowledge of several related skills, such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, and machinist work. This position will also install, repair, inspect, and maintain physical facilities (i.e., buildings, facilities, and grounds), machinery, and equipment within the Northern Shores Park Area.
This position is not eligible to telework, as physical on-site presence is required to perform essential functions.

Requirements:
Uniform Information: All Maintenance Mechanic 1 employees are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Maintenance Mechanic and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks employee. All non-permanent Maintenance Mechanic 1s will receive 2 shirts, 2 outerwear (heavy duty hoodie/fleece jacket), a safety vest, a ball cap, beanie/knit cap, and a brim hat.
Working Conditions: Work schedule is 8 hours per day, five (5) days a week, Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Incumbent may be expected to adjust work scheduled to meet business needs and must maintain regular and reliable attendance to accommodate office and customer demands. A flexible work schedule may be considered at the incumbent's request and is subject to supervisory approval. This position may be required to travel between parks and/or statewide for meetings, training, and other field work. Travel will be necessary in all types of weather conditions and climates. Periodic overnight travel may be necessary.
