The Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Mechanic 1, you will inspect, maintain, repair, and support the operation of Washington State University Athletics facilities, equipment, and grounds. In this role, your primary responsibilities include performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on athletic facilities and support equipment; conducting preventive maintenance inspections; assisting with special maintenance and repair projects; operating tools, vehicles, and equipment; and supporting the maintenance and upkeep of sports turf and grounds.
In this position, you will also support athletic competitions, practices, and special events through the setup, installation, testing, operation, and removal of event-related equipment and infrastructure.
You will provide direction and oversight to student employees assisting with maintenance, facility operations, and event support activities. Your work is performed independently on routine assignments and may require evening and weekend hours to support athletic facility operations and scheduled events.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$4,746 to $5,506 | Range 45G (Steps G-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent and two (2) years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Ability to work varied hours and days, including nights and weekends for WSUAthletic games and events dependent.
Experience in planning, directing, and carrying out single and multiple job tasks in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experiencing testing PA systems and scoring systems for proper functioning.
Experience using computer email programs such as Outlook, Gmail, or other similar product.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with other units within the department.
Experience working with and leading students/temp-hourly employees.
