Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Material Apprentice

Duty Days: 240 Days

Pay Grade: N04

Salary Schedule:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This job requires the employee to aid the Department in the logistics of materials and equipment. As well as assist the other technicians with ordering, stocking, and issuing maintenance equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification/Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
  • Must pass an initial drug test and be part of a random drug testing program
  • Must pass a criminal history check

Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Familiar with the use of common business procedures and applications
  • Strong communication skills and attentive to detail
  • Be willing to learn necessary procedures and regulations involved with purchasing and working in a public building atmosphere
  • Must be willing to certify for forklift operation
  • No experience required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Pick up and deliver parts with the correct paperwork
  • Maintain an accurate log of issued keys, tools, and vehicles
  • Move vehicles between departments
  • Unload and receive materials for the department
  • Maintain stock supplies
  • Assist other technicians in the department as needed
  • Exhibit professional telephone etiquette
  • Maintain a professional attitude and maintain confidential information at all time
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer systems in regard to email, work order, and time entry systems
  • Assist other crafts as needed
  • Completes or assists others in completing special projects.
  • Must be willing to respond to occasional after-hour emergencies
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions

Physical Demands/Environment Factors:

Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; repetitive hand motions; moderate use of a computer, moderate phone interactions; prolonged standing, walking, and bending. Moderate to heavy lifting
