Lead the team keeping a world-class island resort running at its best.

As Maintenance Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the engineering operation at InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef, leading a skilled team responsible for keeping our resort, staff village and guest areas operating safely, efficiently and seamlessly.

From sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems to plant rooms, public spaces and resort infrastructure, you’ll play a hands-on leadership role in ensuring everything works as it should — often before our guests even notice it.

Working closely with the Chief Engineer and Maintenance Scheduler, you’ll drive our Preventative and Reactive Maintenance Programs, reduce unplanned downtime and keep the resort performing at its very best.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Work closely with the Chief Engineer to lead the day-to-day operations of the Engineering & Maintenance department.

• Lead, support and motivate the Trades team, ensuring priorities are clear and work is completed safely and efficiently.

• Drive preventative and reactive maintenance programs to keep the resort running smoothly and minimise downtime.

• Oversee the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plant and equipment across the resort, staff village, FOH and BOH areas.

• Troubleshoot issues, coordinate repairs and implement practical solutions to keep operations moving.

• Support the development, training and performance of team members, including apprentices and emerging trades talent.

• Ensure all licensing, safety, compliance and legislative requirements are maintained across the department.

• Manage maintenance contractors and service agreements, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard.

• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and maintenance practices across the resort.

• Help maintain the high standards expected of a luxury island resort, ensuring engineering support contributes to an exceptional guest experience.

Salary rate $140,000.00 + super

To be successful in this full-time role, you’ll have:

• Trade qualifications are essential

• Electrical trade qualification and high voltage switching

• Confined space entry and working at heights

• Queensland Open driver’s license

• Management qualifications are desirable

• Queensland General Safety Induction Card

• At least 3-5 years in an operational manager, construction manager or engineering manager role

• Hotel or Resort experience highly regarded

• Preventative Maintenance Management experience

• Building Management Systems

• Work, Health & Safety experience

• Hotel, project or FM background
