Job Description


The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the overall maintenance strategy, encompassing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of skilled technicians, fostering a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. The role demands a deep understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations, equipment maintenance, and facility management. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with production, quality, and engineering departments to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Key Role Specific Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability of equipment and systems.
  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to production activities.
  • Coordinate with production and quality departments to align maintenance schedules with production demands and quality standards.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development.
  • Ensure the maintenance team adheres to all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety first.

Equipment and Facility Management

  • Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of all machinery, equipment, and utility systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment histories.
  • Ensure the facility meets all regulatory requirements, including GMP, OSHA, and other relevant standards.

Safety and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA regulations, and other industry standards, maintaining the highest levels of operational integrity.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance to ensure maintenance activities do not compromise product quality or safety.

Budgeting and Inventory Management

  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance supplies, optimizing stock levels to prevent downtime.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers for equipment, parts, and services, ensuring the best value for the company.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, implementing best practices in maintenance and reliability.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in maintenance technology, integrating new tools and techniques into the maintenance strategy.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Other Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CMRP, PMP) are a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.

Working Conditions

Environment

  • Work primarily in a manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery and equipment.
  • May require occasional lifting of heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
