About the Role
Drax is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function at our wood pellet manufacturing facility in Morehouse, Louisiana.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Maintenance Department, overseeing maintenance planning, reliability initiatives, departmental budgets, and continuous improvement efforts. You will lead a team of up to 20 maintenance professionals and work in close partnership with Operations and Reliability teams to maximize plant performance, equipment availability, and operational efficiency.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is passionate about safety, people development, and driving world-class maintenance practices in a manufacturing environment.


What You'll Be Doing
As the Maintenance Manager, you will:
  • Lead and manage all maintenance activities and personnel across the facility.
  • Develop and execute plant maintenance strategies focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, resources, and small capital improvement projects.
  • Champion Drax's safety culture by fostering a safe and healthy workplace and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Partner with Operations and Reliability teams to minimize downtime and improve maintenance KPIs.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
  • Support and promote Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies such as Kaizen, Kanban, and SMED.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop maintenance team members to build a high-performing culture.
  • Ensure maintenance procedures and training programs remain current and effective.
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Drive productivity and efficiency improvements while maintaining quality, environmental, and safety standards.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone with:
  • 5-10 years of maintenance or related industrial experience with responsibility for maintenance assets.
  • Previous experience leading and supervising maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, asset reliability, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience using CMMS software.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and RCM principles.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.Additional reliability, maintenance, or leadership certifications are considered an asset.
