About the Role

Service Stream’s Utilities division are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our growing company. To manage client and stakeholder engagements, ensuring that contractual KPI’s are met, budget is achieved, and operations are performed in accordance with compliance and regulatory requirements. As a key member of the Maintenance & Services Manager’s senior leadership team SLT, you will be comfortable presenting at all levels while not afraid to roll-up your sleeves to test a theory or check the effectiveness of your people, systems, and process performance in the field.

Location: Clayton, VIC

Reporting Line: Maintenance & Services Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong and effective leadership for Service Stream’s field staff ensuring cohesion and collaboration with the view to establish an environment of empowerment, accountability, performance and achievements
  • To develop a team spirit and promote a high level of employee morale by encouraging a sense of responsibility, communicating all relevant information effectively and dealing with personnel concerns as they arise
  • To maintain a properly trained and motivated workforce through recruitment, inductions, training, job instructions, appraisals and counselling
  • To set and maintain high standards of work performance and discipline by ensuring workers know and understand all relevant rules, procedures, practices and policies. To take appropriate action to correct where necessary
  • Manage the performance of all field staff and undertake annual performance reviews
  • Create and implement individual development plans for field staff (as required)
  • Support and develop field resources to continually improve across technical, safety, quality, environment capabilities and as a minimum meet legislative and customer requirements
  • Develop capability within the organisation to enable Service Stream’s strategic growth into new sectors through ongoing workforce planning, staff development programs and recruitment
  • Development of work crews to optimise work methods through the development and implementation of procedures and techniques to ensure work is carried out in the safety and most efficient manner
  • Continually assess methods of work and make suggestions and recommendations for improvement
  • Manage recruitment and selection of personnel to meet Service Stream’s program requirements
  • Manage succession planning of resources
  • Manage Enterprise Bargaining Agreement process;
  • Manage labour to maintain excellent productivity and industrial relations;
  • Drive safety performance and culture in the field by demonstrating absolute commitment to safety
  • Promote a safe working environment, preventing accidents and injuries to the public and employees by training and supervision of personnel to identify and eliminate hazards, carry out proper work practices, meeting all legislative requirements and facilitating the use of safe work practices
  • Undertake HSEQ activities such as Toolbox Meetings, Safety Leadership Walks, Hazard Observations, JSA’s,
  • audits, incident investigations, etc, as required;

About You

  • Experience in field services-based business within the Utilities industry preferable

  • Previous experience in management of personnel

  • Previous experience in management and planning of a workforce

  • Proven ability to plan, organise and schedule resources to achieve efficient operations

  • Ability to manage complex logistics and affirmative decision making

  • Innovative thinking

  • Assertive communication that earns the respect of the workforce

  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint & Outlook;

  • Proven ability to effectively lead, manage and motivate a large workforce

  • Proven ability to plan, organise and schedule resources to achieve efficient activities and operations of maintenance and construction activities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Professionalism and confidence when dealing with clients and other external parties
