Job Title Manager Maintenance

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of equipment, machinery, utilities, and facilities. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, team management, vendor coordination, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives and also exposure to SAP tool.

Responsibilities

Required Knowledge & Experience

Maintenance Operations

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure timely repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Minimize equipment downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate emergency breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Ensure department targets like MTTR, MTBF, PM implementation KPI’ are defined and targets achieved.
  • Implement systems, procedures and processes for the department’s effective and transparent operations.
  • Knowledge of implementing the 5S, Six Sigma, ISO systems continual improvement programs for the department in line with global objectives.
  • Ensure to all the applicable statutory compliances are implemented for the department and for the organization.
  • Ensure to develop the vendor base for operational support and establish long term open PO’s in case of any emergency service supports.
  • Spare parts management to mitigate the machine downtime.

Team Management

  • Coaching and Mentoring the maintenance technicians, engineers, and support staff.
  • Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
  • Identify training needs to the team through skill matrix, develop and implement the training plan/trainings for the team and do the assessment.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment.
  • Develop the succession plan for yourself and each of your team member.
  • Empower the team with proper responsibilities and accountability.
  • Create very cordial and effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, cross functional team members. Be approachable.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Prepare the emergency evacuation plan, Create emergency Response team, provide training and conduct periodical mock drills.
  • Conduct periodic audits, Gemba Walks, effective closure of identified improvement actions.
  • Develop and implement system based documentation as repository for maintenance records, reports, and service records and so on.
  • Ensure timely compliance with calibrations, test reports, profiles for equipment’s.

Budget & Inventory Control

  • Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.
  • Optimize maintenance costs without compromising quality and safety.
  • Optimize the inventory of spare parts at the same time breakdowns are within the MTTR and MTBF targets.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze equipment failures using statistical quality tools and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction as part of continual improvement.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment’s with fulfilling the new machine acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in plant improvement and automation projects.
  • Implement TPM for the plant.
  • Conduct OE health check for the department at regular intervals. Follow Global template for scoring.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing industry having thorough knowledge in operation and maintenance of Production equipment’s, Utility equipment’s and facility management.
  • Experience in team management
  • Exposure to Small to medium plant expansion projects.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Good communication and coordination skills indluding listening skills.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO systems, quality tools, 5S, Gemba, SAP system, Knowledge on Hoshin Kanri is added advantage.

Preferred expertise

  • Experience in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
  • Experience in maintenance management including safety practices.
  • Experience with automation systems,CNC and PLCs.

  • Equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Maintenance Budget.
  • Breakdown response time.
  • Preventive maintenance completion rate.
  • Safety compliance and incident reduction.
  • Spare parts inventory optimization.

Working Conditions

  • May require working in shifts or responding to emergency breakdowns.
  • Work environment may include factory, industrial, or facility settings.
