This position is responsible for leading the maintenance departments at the Devon Clean Air manufacturing facilities in Wayne, PA in regards to safety, operating costs, and support functions for manufacturing as well as the facility.
The Role:
As a Maintenance Manager, you will help drive our goals by:
- Leadership
- Develop through various methods including coaching and training the ability of their staff in alignment with JM Values and Principles.
- Through leading by example, further the culture of Safe behavior, continuous improvement, and empowerment.
- Evaluate and improve training methods and information to further drive employee development.
- Set standards, objectives, development plans, and succession plans for staff and evaluate performance against those standards and objectives.
- Safety
- Implements critical spare parts programs for facilities and production equipment.
- Supports staff in addressing safety concerns of the maintenance staff as well as those identified throughout the plant in accordance with the company safety principles as needed.
- Establishes plans and implements actions in support of new EHS initiatives / efforts and addresses gaps with current requirements.
- Provides input to development of new plans to address safety concerns, conditions, or behaviors.
- Executes role in the emergency response plan.
- Ensures staff have appropriate training and resources to respond to potential incidents and to lead investigations.
- Ensures that any actions as an outcome of an incident are carried out and implemented.
- Ensures area safety audits are being completed and that actions are being addressed in a timely manner.
- Supports staff in accountability of any person(s) on in the manufacturing areas not acting in accordance to safety rules, procedures, and policies.
- Participates in the Safety Observation Process.
- Productivity
- Provide implementation/execution of preventative and predictive maintenance, planning and scheduling, and spare parts inventories to support the plant in achieving its KPI’s in accordance to Plant, site, and CA strategic objectives.
- Identifies, implements, and modifies maintenance programs, procedures, and staffing to optimize manpower and equipment efficiency.
- Supports CI initiatives by setting priorities as well as monitoring effectiveness, participation, and enabling decision making.
- Monitors equipment/process system performance/integrity, identifies needs for upgrades/replacements, and implements modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Supports and monitors 5S activity in their area of responsibility including audits and audit participation.
- Consults and provides input where necessary to the implementation of new products, processes, and technologies.
- Quality
- Ensures and supports all functions in regards to quality system compliance.
- Monitors processes for quality through completion of various types of audits and ensures actions / non-conformities are being appropriately addressed.
- Support root cause investigations, into quality issues on the line including implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- General
- Employee will comply with all Johnson Matthey Hazardous Waste procedures and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
- Work closely with EHS on all site safety and environmental requirements and monitor environmental compliance of equipment.
- Provide input to strategic manufacturing plans to meet the business area requirements.
- Develop and implement capital programs to meet capacity, cost reduction, and safety requirements.
- Provide maintenance support as need to Project Engineering on capital projects.
- Administer company policy to meet all regulatory requirements.
- Carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Maintenance Engineering with at least 5 years in supervisory or management role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess knowledge of all facility equipment (such as chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, electrical, roofing, etc.) and the supporting utilities within a facility.
- Strong PM (Preventative Maintenance) and Reliability Programs experience, including establishing and effectively maintaining existing programs.
- Must have CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and identify new equipment needs in order to improve quality and reduce costs – Desired
- Strong expertise with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – Desired
- Experience with Robotics, Automated Systems and PLCs – Desired
