Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act are observed by employees. This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals in the PaSSE and SHARP plans
  • Interface with MSHA/MOL and other governing health and safety agencies at local and federal level as required
  • Follow up investigations working with Safety Committee, and others as needed or applicable
  • Participate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenance
  • Preparation and implementation of training plans to provide employees with the necessary training to perform their job safely and effectively
  • Ensure the Management System is effective and well understood by all employees
  • Actively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting between maintenance and production
  • A good understanding of the maintenance modules under the CMMS/SAP system
  • Ensures correct, accurate, and timely reporting of information on all maintenance Work Orders, including “Urgent Repairs”
  • Ensure maintenance personnel perform good quality work
  • Ensure the execution of the daily maintenance plan
  • Oversee necessary arrangements to keep plant running during breakdowns
  • Routinely monitor key performance indicators identifying opportunities for improvement and making appropriate supervisory and management personnel aware of the findings
  • Provide feedback to the maintenance team on goals and expectations status
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Lead the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.

Basic requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience progressive experience in mining or heavy engineering industry
  • Extensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, extensive knowledge of continuous manufacturing and production processes, knowledge and experience working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
  • Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, basic care practices, and computerized maintenance management systems; strong management and Total Productive Maintenance experience; Six Sigma training is a plus
  • Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behaviour based management
  • Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills
  • Demonstrable team work and maturity with a strong work ethic
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of people management skills
  • Experience in mining and/or heavy engineering industry
  • Knowledge of continuous manufacturing business sector
  • Technical creditability as it relates to industry, with a preference on mining and kilns

  • Demonstrates excellent technical writing and computer skills for producing SOP, reports, and other appropriate communications
  • Knows appropriate negotiating tactics and is able to negotiate win/win agreements without compromising principles
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage maintenance projects using project management methodology and techniques
  • Uses quality management skills to ensure all procedures and work activities conform to work specifications and standards
  • Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously with an emphasis on being results oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and lead a team successfully
