Job Description

We’re seeking a forward-thinking Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance, reliability, and asset performance for a high-volume manufacturing facility operating complex, automated production equipment. This role goes beyond day-to-day maintenance execution—it is designed for a leader who can shape long-term equipment strategy, influence capital planning, develop technical talent, and drive measurable improvements in uptime, cost, and safety.

The facility operates a blend of high-speed, automation-heavy equipment alongside legacy mechanical assets. Success in this role requires someone who can bridge both worlds: setting standards, building systems, and coaching teams while staying grounded in how equipment actually behaves on the plant floor.

You’ll partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Plant Leadership to align maintenance strategy with production goals, capital investment, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an opportunity to build a high-performing maintenance organization—not just manage one.

Compensation

  • $100 - $140k

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Leadership & Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors; set clear expectations around safety, quality, responsiveness, and technical standards while building bench strength through training and mentorship.
  • Reliability & Asset Strategy: Own equipment reliability across the facility by implementing and improving preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, failure analysis, spare parts strategy, and lifecycle planning for critical assets.
  • Capital Planning & Execution: Partner with plant and corporate leadership on capital planning—identifying equipment risks, justifying replacements or upgrades, supporting ROI analysis, and leading or supporting installation and commissioning of new assets.
  • Labor Planning & Hiring: Forecast maintenance labor needs based on equipment complexity, uptime targets, and growth plans; actively participate in hiring, onboarding, and developing technical talent aligned with future-state needs.
  • Continuous Improvement & Downtime Reduction: Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing unplanned downtime, improving maintainability, eliminating chronic issues, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Maintenance Systems & CMMS Ownership: Own the maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring accurate asset data, PM compliance, work order quality, and meaningful metrics that support decision-making rather than administrative busywork.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and EHS to align maintenance priorities with production schedules, changeovers, safety standards, and process improvements.
  • Safety & Compliance Leadership: Set the standard for safe maintenance practices, lockout/tagout compliance, electrical safety, and contractor oversight while reinforcing a culture where safety and craftsmanship go hand in hand.

Required

  • Maintenance Leadership Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance, including time in a lead, supervisor, or manager role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Foundation: Strong working knowledge of industrial mechanical, electrical, and automation systems sufficient to guide troubleshooting, set standards, and coach technicians—even if no longer turning wrenches daily.
  • Reliability Mindset: Demonstrated experience improving uptime, reducing repeat failures, and transitioning organizations from reactive to planned maintenance.
  • Leadership & Communication Skills: Ability to lead teams, influence peers, and communicate effectively with both technicians and senior leadership.
  • Manufacturing Environment Experience: Background supporting production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting where uptime, safety, and quality are critical.

Preferred

  • Automation & Controls Exposure: Experience supporting or managing facilities with PLC-controlled, servo-driven, or sensor-dense automation (packaging, processing, assembly, etc.).
  • Capital Project Involvement: Hands-on experience supporting equipment installations, line upgrades, or major rebuilds from concept through startup.
  • Lean / CI Experience: Familiarity with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or structured continuous improvement methodologies.
  • CMMS & Data Utilization: Strong comfort using maintenance data and KPIs (PM compliance, MTBF, MTTR, downtime trends) to guide decisions and justify investments.
  • Multi-Shift Operations: Experience managing maintenance support across multiple shifts or 24/7 operations.

About Laborup

Laborup is the #1 AI powered talent platform for America’s industrial workforce. We use AI to create jobs, not take them away. We help HR and plant leaders hire and keep the skilled workers who keep plants running: machinists, welders, maintenance techs, operators, industrial electricians, and engineers. USA Today called us the “LinkedIn for blue collar workers,” and Forbes profiled our work in “How AI Is Solving America’s 1 Trillion Dollar Manufacturing Labor Crisis.”

Today we work with manufacturers from 50 person shops to large public companies with tens of thousands of employees, and the story is the same everywhere. It is hard to find talent, hard to keep good people, and staffing costs keep rising. In a market where filling critical industrial roles can take months and turnover is constant, Laborup helps teams move qualified workers from first contact to on site interview in days instead of weeks and keep them on the floor longer.

Most of the workers our customers need are not on LinkedIn or the usual job boards. Laborup uses AI to find this hidden workforce, call and text them, screen and qualify them, build real profiles, and match them directly to the plants and roles where they can succeed. For workers, that means real, permanent roles at serious manufacturers, not one off gigs. For companies, it is durable infrastructure for hiring and retention at scale in a labor market that will stay tight for years.

We work across nuclear, defense, and advanced manufacturing, as well as sectors like aerospace, automotive, and food production. Teams that use Laborup hire 5 to 10 times faster, see around 3 times better retention, and cut cost per hire by up to 50 to 70 percent. That turns into fewer empty shifts, fewer missed orders, more stable teams, and more capacity without more headache.

We are building the modern talent system for America’s industrial base with a simple long term goal: put a billion industrial workers to work in good jobs that matter.
