Located on the brink of one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, the Marriott on the Falls is a 404 guestroom full service hotel, minutes away from area attractions, world-class wineries, golf and casinos. The Marriott on the Falls also offers sumptuous dining options at its on-site Milestones Fallsview Restaurant along with 23 private function rooms and boardrooms totaling over 40,000 square feet of meeting space including our 8400 sq. ft. Oakes Grand Ballroom with an additional 2700 sq. ft. foyer. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for service who is excited to lead our maintenance team and is ready to jump into any situation to give a helping hand!
This key service position is responsible for:
• Leading the maintenance team in repairs, in trouble shooting /responding to mechanical repairs ranging from heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, fan coils, chillers, pumps, boilers and cooling towers and general maintenance throughout the hotels and restaurants.
• Ensure HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and utilities systems are operating smoothly.
• Schedule/perform service and repairs for all areas of the property.
• Assist in overseeing the preventative maintenance program & property’s esthetics, including repairs, painting, touch ups, etc
• Assist in reviewing and approving all maintenance, parts, trades and third-party costs.
• Assist in special projects including seasonal installs, capital improvements and tasks as assigned.
• Follow Company and Department’s safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
• To work in a neat and efficient manner – keeping work areas clean and well organized.
• Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (i.e. Evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters.)
• Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for the handling and disposing of chemicals.
• Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.
• Conduct daily engineering rounds.
• Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
• Provide assistance to coworkers, ensuring they understand the tasks.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (i.e. Identify defects).
• Use the Lockout/Tag out system and use PPE before performing any maintenance work.
• Ensure that all flammable materials are stored in OSHA and EPA approved containment devices.
• Assist the team in responding and attending to guest repair requests.
• Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the Manager.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Maintain proper maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Record all information for finished and unfinished calls prior to shift change.
• Assist with snow removal and maintenance of ice management when required.
• Use proper equipment, wear, appropriate personal protective clothing and apply correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by management.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a similar role or vocational training or equivalent with a strong Mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Technical knowledge of electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, city steam heating, and all areas of engineering.
• Ability to effectively lead and direct others.
• Working knowledge of electrical, fire, and health & safety codes.
• Working knowledge of water treatment programs, blueprints and wiring schematics, power and hand tools, and other technical trade-related equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of all mechanical equipment critical to the operation of the building.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Must be able, walk, stand or walk for long periods of time and climb, kneel or crawl in confined spaces.
• Previous hotel experience an asset.
• Must be able to communicate well in English, in both written and oral forms.
• Must be able to work flexible hours which includes holidays and weekends.
• Trade certification preferred.
