Job Description

General Position Summary:

Maintain the day-to-day physical plant operations, both internally and externally, under the direction of the Business Manager. Plant operations would consist of: Church, Parish Office, Parish Center and School. This also includes maintenance of structures, grounds, maintenance equipment, and office areas.

Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, routine maintenance, locksmithing and painting work to maintain the buildings and equipment.
  • Complete all maintenance service requests as assigned.
  • Ordering maintenance and janitorial supplies.
  • Carry cell phone for after-hours emergency maintenance requests.
  • Alert the Pastor or Principal of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or is likely to occur.
  • Assist with extraordinary events; moves/arranges furniture, opens and secures buildings, locks entrances, exits, doors and other mechanisms in buildings, and assists in clean-up.
  • Perform routine HVAC preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot issues to determine if outside vendor is needed for repairs/replacement.
  • Random landscaping duties, (sprinklers, trash pickup), and snow & ice removal. Perform said tasks as needed.
  • Oversee trash removal as directed.
  • Work with and monitor the respective vendors that provide various support services.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Campus Maintenance Manual.
  • Complete/assist with special projects as they arise.
  • Comfortable in working for a faith-based organization and working around people of faith.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Business Manager, Principal, or Pastor.
  • Maintain certain Excel spreadsheets as requested and navigate the internet to locate needed vendors in the area or to lookup how to make repairs/complete needed tasks.

Janitorial Duties and Responsibilities in the School

  • Empty trash, vacuum floors, and clean glass doors in classrooms and office every couple days.
  • Empty trash, check/fill dispensers, clean fixtures and floors daily in the bathrooms.
  • Dust mop hallway floors, spot mop daily
  • Dust mop stairways every couple days and spot mop when needed
  • Sweep and damp mop cafeteria daily
  • Dust mop gym weekly and spot mop when needed.
  • Summertime: weekly cleaning of office and main bathroom. Check and flush bathroom fixtures as needed. Clean carpets in all rooms and refinish tile floors

Experience & Skills Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Prior work background or license working with electrical and plumbing operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
  • Practicing Catholic desirable
  • Proficient with managing processes and expected reporting.
  • Excellent time-management system and skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Competent at analyzing information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies, though rare.
