About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Maintenance Improvement Superintendent to join Talison Lithium at the Greenbushes Operation. The successful applicant will drive strategic maintenance improvements, with a particular focus on shutdown planning, readiness, execution and performance. Through data analysis and structured problem-solving, the role will identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, productivity and cost efficiency.

Working collaboratively with Maintenance, Operations and key stakeholders, the successful applicant will lead sustainable improvements in maintenance processes and work management, while potentially providing leadership to a small team responsible for analysis, project management and implementation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work in accordance with Talison safety, environmental and risk management requirements; ensure changes are risk assessed, controlled and embedded without compromising safe production;
  • Translate maintenance objectives and performance gaps into a prioritised improvement initiatives and maintain visibility of delivery, dependencies and risks;
  • Lead the end-to-end improvement of shutdown performance from scope development to return-to-service and post-shutdown review;
  • Improve the quality and discipline of maintenance notification, scoping, approval, planning, scheduling, execution, close-out and feedback processes;
  • Work with Engineering & Reliability and operational teams to identify chronic losses and repeat failures, prioritise critical assets, apply structured root-cause methods and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified;
  • Identify and address constraints associated with labour, equipment or processes, particularly for shutdown and major maintenance work;
  • Define and maintain a balanced suite of leading and lagging indicators to measure improvements in maintenance performance and practices, including shutdown performance; and
  • Build effective working relationships across departments and functions, including relevant contractors.

About the Candidate:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, maintenance, asset management, business improvement or a related discipline; or equivalent demonstrated industry experience;
  • Hold a current Section 26 (S26) qualification under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
  • Formal training or certification in continuous improvement, project management, reliability or asset management is desirable; and relevant statutory or site appointments, where required for the work undertaken.
  • Substantial maintenance experience in a complex mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial environment, including leadership across multidisciplinary teams;
  • Demonstrated experience improving shutdown planning, readiness, execution and post-shutdown performance;
  • Strong understanding of maintenance work management and reliability, including defect elimination, planning and scheduling, preventive maintenance, backlog management, master data and materials readiness; and
  • Demonstrated capability in structured problem solving, data analysis, business case development, benefits tracking and change implementation;
