Inside the Role

• Documentation substantiating eight years maintenance HVAC experience in an industrial facility working on mechanical equipment is required.
• Must demonstrate the safe use of various meters and gauges.
• Must periodically and successfully update skills in the HVAC area.
• Refrigerant certification.
• High school diploma required.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Practical knowledge of Preventative Maintenance Systems and Root Cause Failure Analysis required.
• Journeyman Card and documentation showing a Bona Fide Apprenticeship equaling 4 years experience in skilled trades preferred.

  • Performs heating, ventilation, air conditioning troubleshooting and repairs on all plant HVAC equipment.
  • Performs high and low voltage electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Performs pneumatic controls troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust gas trains.
  • Make proper adjustments to all phases of HVAC equipment.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance from shop work orders, preventative work orders as well as from written, drawn and verbal instruction.
  • Perform compliance tests on HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Shift, holiday, and weekend work may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Documentation substantiating four (4) years minimum maintenance HVAC experience in an industrial facility working on mechanical equipment is required, 8 years or greater preferred
  • Must demonstrate the safe use of various meters and gauges.
  • Must periodically and successfully update skills in the HVAC area.
  • Refrigerant certification required
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of Preventative Maintenance Systems and Root Cause Failure Analysis required.
  • Journeyman Card and documentation showing a Bona Fide Apprenticeship equaling 4 years experience in skilled trades preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Repair leaks in coils and pipes in all plant HVAC equipment.
  • Detect leaks in chilled water, DX, steam, condensate and condensate traps.
  • Balance airflows in HVAC equipment and paint booths. Change filters in all plant equipment.
  • Fabricate and install ductwork and other sheet metal parts.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and installations on HVAC units and equipment.
  • Use various meters and gauges to maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Perform other mechanical skills such as repair or replace pumps, sprockets, belts, chains, bearings, sheaves, etc.
  • Perform all mechanical and piping skills to maintain various pieces of plant equipment.
  • Perform repairs on boilers and air compressors.
  • Perform operational checks and troubleshoot operations of the chillers and cooling towers.
  • Perform other duties as required.
