Available Shift: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday from 5:00am to 1:45 pm.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

The Maintenance Helper supports the Maintenance Department by combining hands-on maintenance assistance with inventory management, material tracking, and maintenance administration. This position ensures maintenance parts, tools, and consumables are accurately tracked, stocked, and available while also assisting technicians with equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and safe operation of the facility.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain maintenance inventory through cycle counts, audits, restocking, and organization with the use of excel documents and MaintainX software.

  • Obtains quotes for parts, tools, and consumables while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

  • Track inventory usage by equipment, work order, or job.

  • Maintain material tracking records, vendor information, purchase requests, and deliveries.

  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, obtain quotes, schedule work, rentals, and equipment pickups.

  • Maintain maintenance documentation including work orders, preventive maintenance records, inspections, and maintenance software updates.

  • Assist mechanics with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery including hoists, motors, pumps, belts, fans, conveyors, air conditioners, forklifts, and other production equipment.

  • Use hand tools and power tools safely to assist with repairs and equipment adjustments.

  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment while replacing worn or damaged components under guidance.

  • Assist with fabrication of fixtures and maintenance improvements as needed.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and inventory areas.

  • Interpret basic blueprints, schematics, sketches, and work instructions with guidance.

  • Support emergency maintenance activities and unscheduled equipment outages as required.

  • Promote and follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • One year of maintenance, inventory, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and maintenance tracking systems.

  • Ability to learn maintenance software and inventory systems.

  • Ability to read basic blueprints and schematics preferred.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in hot, dusty, and industrial environments.

Key Performance Expectations:

  • Maintain accurate inventory with minimal discrepancies.

  • Ensure maintenance materials are available when needed.

  • Keep work orders, inventory records, and preventive maintenance documentation current.

  • Coordinate subcontractors and rentals efficiently to minimize downtime and unnecessary costs.

  • Provide timely support to maintenance technicians while maintaining a safe work environment.
