The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing and servicing production machinery and equipment to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations. The role performs preventative and breakdown maintenance, diagnoses and resolves mechanical faults, and supports continuous
improvement by minimising downtime and maximising equipment performance, while ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and repairing machines.
  • Assemble and fit machined parts using drill holes and tap threads.
  • Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
  • Clean and lubricate assembled articles.
  • Inspect machinery regularly and make any adjustments or repairs needed, by removing any worn or damaged parts.
  • Install replacements, by sending a damaged part to the machine shop for repair or by doing the repair work themselves.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and identify the causes of equipment breakdowns using appropriate testing methods and measuring instruments.
  • Dismantle machinery and mechanical equipment for inspection, repair, overhaul and replacement of defective components.
  • Replace worn or defective bearings, shafts, seals, belts, chains, gears and other mechanical
    components to restore equipment performance.
  • Align, adjust and test machinery and equipment following repairs to ensure efficient operation
    and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance programs to minimise equipment downtime and
    maximise production efficiency.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and maintenance specifications to perform fitting and repair work accurately.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, including vernier calipers, micrometers and dial indicators, to inspect and verify component tolerances.
  • Install, commission and maintain mechanical equipment and production machinery in
    accordance with workplace and manufacturer requirements.
  • Inspect hydraulic and pneumatic systems to identify leaks, wear or operational faults and carry
    out necessary repairs or component replacement.
  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance of pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, motors and associated production equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance records and report completed repairs, equipment faults and replacement parts used in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are carried out in compliance with workplace
    health and safety policies and safe work procedures.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Maintenance Fitter field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to WHS and ability to drive a culture of safety excellence.
  • Experience and knowledge with industry compliance requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, food hygiene.
  • A people person. Able to communicate clearly to people from all walks of life.
  • Lead by example.
  • Keen. Eager to learn, challenge yourself and others.
  • Attention to detail. Able to multitask and ensuring that a high standard of competency in completion of tasks.
  • Enjoy being a key player in the manufacture of high-quality products that bring enjoyment to
    people around the world.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Result-driven with great problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced communication and working knowledge of MS Office and maintenance systems.

Salary: $90,000 – $95,000
