We are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer (Level 3 Management position) at our state-of-the-art coffee manufacturing plant in Dalston, Cumbria. This is a permanent opportunity which will report into the Filling & Packing Asset Maintenance Manager.

Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffeemate.

Your impact

Your main responsibility in this role will be managing an area of plant equipment and a maintenance budget within your area of responsibility. Whilst you won't have any direct reports in this role, you will be expected to lead the Technicians on your shifts daily.

It will be ensuring compliance with the Nestlé quality policy particularly engineering change management and line release.


• Drive plant reliability through effective coordination and coaching whilst delivering fixed cost reductions.
• Coordination and implementation of the departmental maintenance strategy.
• Analysis of breakdowns, with a root cause mindset, taking ownership of follow up actions and roll out.
• Supporting the capability build across the department with a strong competency build plan.
• Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practice standards in respect of plant, tools and environment.
• Support and challenge your colleagues to maintain all company standards.

Your ingredients for success

The person that is successful in this role will be determined to drive improvement across production.

This opportunity also provides development individually and as part of a highly skilled team.

The successful candidate for this position will also the following criteria:


• Time served apprenticeship to a minimum of NVQ level 3/City & Guilds or equivalent. - Essential

• Ideally multi-skilled but Electrical or Mechanical Bias will also be considered.
• Have previous experience within a Manufacturing environment.
• Can work as part of a team delivering compliance in safety and quality.
• Manage and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
• TPM understanding is a must.
