Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Gorst Energy AD Plant. You will play a vital role in keeping critical infrastructure operational, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement. of what you will do

  • Carry out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance to maximise plant uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose complex technical and mechanical faults on critical plant assets, performing root cause analysis and producing corrective action reports.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance procedures and strategies alongside the Maintenance Manager to reduce unplanned failures.
  • Monitor IT control systems, respond to alarms, and produce operational reports, including remote monitoring during on-call periods.
  • Manage permits to work, oversee third-party contractors on site, and ensure full compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support plant operations including feedstock loading, weighbridge duties, daily checks, and site housekeeping to maintain a safe and organised environment.
  • Coordinate spare parts stock control, supplier relationships, and purchase order processes to eliminate downtime caused by lack of materials.

What you will bring to the role

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (apprenticeship, City and Guilds, NVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent proven experience).
  • Solid experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or operational plant environment.
  • Good knowledge of anaerobic digestion or similar process-driven systems.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification and strong understanding of health and safety management, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • First Aid/Fire Warden holder
  • Telehandler licence and experience operating plant machinery.
  • Additional certifications such as confined space, PASMA, or IPAF are desirable.
  • Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and IT skills with the ability to interpret data and solve process issues.
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence

Location

Gorst Energy AD Plant – On Site. This role includes weekend working as part of a team rota. Ideally you will be located within 30 minutes of the plant. A full UK driving licence is essential.
