Schedule: Full Time | 8am to 4:30pm | 80 hours

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll ensure our senior living community operates smoothly by performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for residents and staff. We’re looking for a skilled and dependable professional with experience in maintenance or facilities management and qualifications such as knowledge of HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’re a key part of ensuring safety, comfort, and operational excellence across our campus. Your role supports residents, guests, and team members by maintaining the essential systems that keep everything running smoothly—from boilers and chillers to HVAC and electrical. This is more than a maintenance role—it’s about creating a physical environment that reflects the high standards of care and hospitality Vivie is known for.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Maintain Core Building Systems – Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, HVAC, and other essential mechanical systems. Complete daily work orders, routine checks, and preventive maintenance tasks across the community.
  • Support Energy Management & Equipment Care – Monitor the energy management system and log key information. Schedule and track equipment servicing to ensure functionality and longevity.
  • Lead Safety-Focused Operations – Know and follow emergency protocols, responding appropriately during fire, weather, or mechanical incidents. Assist in maintaining a safe physical environment that supports both residents and staff.
  • Provide After-Hours Support – Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to respond to after-hours maintenance needs.
  • Other Duties as Assigned – The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

This job also requires:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minnesota Special Engineer license required (Second Class C preferred).
  • Valid Minnesota’s Driver’s License.
  • Three years of experience in building maintenance systems within a comparable facility.
  • Additional education in mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems preferred.
  • Physical capabilities to perform all essential job functions.
  • Ability to pass state mandated background checks.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to ensure effective communication with residents, staff, and visitors.
