Maintenance Engineer

Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Experience: Minimum 2 years in maintenance within FMCG or a similar manufacturing environment

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Power Engineering

Languages: Arabic and English

About the Role

The Maintenance Engineer will help maximize plant availability, productivity, and efficiency by maintaining machinery and equipment through effective preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance. The role will coordinate daily maintenance activities, support technicians, control energy and maintenance waste, maintain accurate records, and ensure full compliance with food-safety, quality, and workplace-safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain plant machinery and equipment through timely preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance in line with approved work orders and priorities.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on time and coordinate interventions with Production to minimize disruption and equipment downtime.
• Diagnose equipment failures, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and follow through to confirm sustainable resolution.
• Monitor equipment availability, reliability, productivity, and energy consumption; identify actions that improve plant efficiency and cost performance.
• Plan and prioritize daily maintenance activities, coordinate supervisors and technicians, and monitor work quality, safety, and completion.
• Record maintenance activities, equipment history, failures, actions, and follow-ups accurately for analysis, reporting, and future reference.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with GMP, HACCP, ISO, food-quality, hygiene, and Saudi standardization requirements.
• Apply all Safety, Health and Environment requirements and reduce maintenance waste, including oils and lubricants.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores, and other internal teams on maintenance requirements, spare parts, shutdowns, and operational priorities.
• Support maintenance budgeting, resource planning, spare-parts control, and the effective use of contractors and suppliers.
• Contribute to automation, standardization, and continuous-improvement initiatives that strengthen reliability and manufacturing performance.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, motivation, and development of maintenance personnel while promoting teamwork and customer focus.

Technical Knowledge

• Sound understanding of engineering drawings, mechanical principles, equipment troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Working knowledge of preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance, job-order execution, and maintenance activity recording.
• Practical awareness of GMP, HACCP, ISO, Safety, Health and Environment requirements, and applicable Saudi standards.
• Understanding of maintenance planning, budgeting, resource utilization, spare-parts coordination, and performance measurement.
• Exposure to industrial automation and manufacturing improvement projects is desirable.
