The Maintenance Engineer supports the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of hospital facilities through the inspection, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment. Executes preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related systems in accordance with applicable codes and accreditation standards. Responds to service requests, assists departmental needs, and participates in Facility Operations on-call and rotating shift responsibilities.
Essential Duties:
Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems and equipment. Maintains facility equipment and systems in accordance with organizational standards, manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and department procedures.
Accurately documents work performed, inspections, testing activities, parts usage, and labor within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other required documentation systems.
Troubleshoots building systems and equipment issues and coordinates repairs with internal staff, vendors, and contractors as needed.
Provides support during emergency situations, utility disruptions, severe weather events, and other facility-related incidents as required.
Assists with departmental projects, equipment moves, minor construction activities, and other duties as assigned.
Duties may vary based on assigned location, shift, and operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of two years of experience in facilities maintenance, mechanical systems, building operations, or related trade required.
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical degree, vocational training, apprenticeship in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, building maintenance, or a related field
Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or other regulated facilities environment preferred
Experience performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on commercial building systems
Experience with using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Class 2C Boiler Engineers License
Universal EPA certification
