Every employee of Stockbridge Munsee Community is expected to present themselves in a professional manner to customers as well as other departments. Stockbridge Munsee Community strives to provide a positive team environment where everyone contributes.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform maintenance and improvement of complete interior and exterior premises of the Stockbridge-Munsee Health Center. Will perform duties in such a manner as to enhance and maintain the overall appearance and safety of the building and surrounding grounds. Will work under the direct supervision of the Health Center’s Safety Manager.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
  5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Regularly complete and monitor preventive building maintenance and repair projects and scheduling for the following: floor maintenance, ground maintenance, testing and repair of building equipment, preventive maintenance of heating and cooling units, maintaining adequate lighting, painting and repair of building surfaces, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, routine testing, inspecting and repair of building and security and fire safety equipment as needed and as scheduled.

2.Complete and schedule routine custodial tasks as scheduled.

3.Complete shipping & receiving responsibilities.

4.Complete seasonal grounds maintenance, lawn care, and snow removal.

5.Prioritize and follow a daily work schedule that is consistent with seasonal duties and responsibilities.

6.Operate equipment and provide all seasonal job duties that include but are not limited to: snow plowing, garbage removal, lawn mowing and other duties assigned.

7.Complete written and/or electronic work assignments and maintain written maintenance logs, report maintenance issues and unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.

8.Attend training sessions relating to work and special needs of the building.

9.Learn and follow waste handling procedures, to include hazardous waste.

10.Maintain security of facilities and equipment.

11.Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.

12.Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.

13.Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and trainings

14.Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.

15.May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.

16.The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Formal/vocational training in light, heat, and power systems desired.

2.Two years’ experience in building maintenance and repair required.

3.Two years of experience in inventory control of equipment and supplies preferred.

4.Organizational, planning, and reading skills required.

5.Physically able to perform all job duties as required, to include being able to lift at least a minimum of 40 pounds.

6.Must be capable of walking, standing, bending and climbing.

7.Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain all related equipment.

8.Must be able to work with computer software to maintain heating & cooling equipment, to secure the building and respond to emergency alarms and announcements and maintain an inventory for material Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and complete online price searches for maintenance parts and supplies.

9.Must be dependable and work with minimum supervision, work well with others and follow instructions.

10.To maintain security, safety and privacy must be able to escort people, deliveries and maintenance service vendors in and out of building areas as authorized and as needed.

11.Ability to demonstrate knowledge of heating & cooling systems, air conditioners, minor plumbing and electrical repair, and minor carpentry.

12.Must have the ability to operate various maintenance equipment which could include but are not limited to: snow plowing, riding and push lawn mower, snow blowing, genie lift equipment and tools required to complete maintenance and repairs.

13.Ability to comprehend material Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

14.Must participate and assist with emergency preparedness and planning

15.Must be able to respectfully work with a variety of people with varying social and cultural backgrounds.

16.Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

17.Must be 18 years of age.

18.Will be expected to report to the Health Center in times of crisis such as: lightning strikes, power outages, heating or cooling or other building equipment breakdowns.

19.Ability to read and understand blueprints and operation manuals.

20.Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder/Youth License Requirement as it pertains to the position and the location of the department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

21.Must be willing to attend all applicable training.

22.Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.

23.Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.

24.Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

25.Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

26.Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.

27.Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.

28.Must adhere to Tribal law and other applicable laws as well as Tribal personnel policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position requires a lot of sitting, walking, bending, lifting and carrying with the ability to physically stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to forty () (40) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required as needed. Extended hours and irregular shifts required as needed.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working near others.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required and fit-testing for respiratory protection.
