Job Description

Macon, GA

Oglethorpe Power is seeking a Maintenance Coordinator to help build and support the maintenance program for the new Smarr Combined Cycle Energy Facility, a 1,425 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle plant scheduled to begin commercial operations in June 2029. This role will also support the adjacent, operating Smarr Peaking Plant.

The Maintenance Coordinator will play a key role in planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, corrective, and outage-related maintenance. This is an opportunity to help establish the maintenance processes, work controls, and team routines for a major new generation facility while supporting safe, reliable operations today.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, prepare, schedule, and coordinate maintenance work, including preventive, predictive, corrective, and special-project activities.
  • Build weekly and four-week maintenance schedules, balancing available labor capacity, backlog priorities, materials, contractors, tools, and equipment.
  • Develop work scopes, estimate craft labor needs and durations, coordinate resources, and ensure work packages are ready before scheduling.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, outage coordination, contractors, and leadership to resolve planning and scheduling issues.
  • Track work orders through completion in Maximo, ensuring labor, materials, costs, equipment downtime, cause codes, and other required data are accurately captured.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and performance indicators to identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency and work execution.
  • Support outage planning, including personnel scheduling, milestone tracking, scope and budget coordination, and post-work critiques.
  • Help maintain equipment records, drawings, spare-parts information, manuals, and preventive/predictive maintenance program data.
  • Coordinate and direct plant maintenance personnel and contractors during assigned maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, equipment checkouts, and rehabilitation work.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with applicable corporate policies, reliability standards, and environmental and safety regulations.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Eight years of maintenance and outage-management experience in an operating commercial power-generation plant preferred.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system; Maximo experience is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with a two-year technical degree and 10 years of directly related power-plant maintenance/management experience, or 12 years of directly related experience, may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of power-plant equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, and instrumentation and controls equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and process documentation.
  • Strong planning, organization, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of multiple crafts, contractors, and internal partners while managing competing priorities.
  • Valid driver's license meeting company insurance eligibility requirements.

Work Environment

This role combines office-based planning with time in an industrial generating-facility environment. Work may involve climbing stairs and scaffolding, working at heights or in confined spaces, exposure to weather, oil, grease, dirt, and high-voltage equipment, and use of required personal protective equipment. The position supports a 24/7 generating operation and includes on-call support during incidents and outages, as needed. Travel is approximately 30%.

Oglethorpe Power is an equal opportunity employer.
