Job Description

  • Join Australia's first fully integrated rare earths refinery
  • Site-based, Eneabba, WA

Iluka Resources is a leading global producer of critical minerals, zircon and high-grade titanium dioxide feedstocks. In partnership with the Australian Government, Iluka is developing Australia's first fully integrated rare earths refinery at Eneabba in Western Australia's Mid-West. The refinery will produce both light and heavy separated rare earth oxides, supporting diversified global supply chains for minerals essential to defence, renewable energy, anything with an electric motor, robotics and advanced technologies.

About the role

Refinery management will be divided into two broad areas:

  • Cracking, Leaching and Purification (CLP)
  • Solvent Extraction and Product Finishing (SXPF)

We are seeking two experienced Maintenance Coordinators to lead maintenance within the CLP area of the Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator will build and lead their own maintenance team. During commissioning, one role will be seconded to the team establishing the refinery's maintenance systems, while the other will support the commissioning team as the plant transitions into operations.

You will build and lead your team through the refinery's ramp-up, increasing planned maintenance, diagnosing equipment failures and implementing practical solutions to improve equipment reliability, cost performance and plant availability.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the refinery's future, with new camp accommodation and facilities provided.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team of proactive and adaptable technicians
  • Manage mechanical technicians and oversee electrical technicians when the Statutory Electrical Supervisor is not on site
  • Coordinate the safe and efficient execution of planned and unplanned maintenance work, including minor shutdowns
  • Lead the diagnosis and root cause analysis of equipment failures, identifying practical solutions to improve reliability
  • Work closely with the area maintenance planner to deliver maintenance plans, schedules and priorities
  • Increase the proportion of planned maintenance as the refinery commissions, ramps up and transitions into steady-state production
  • Control CLP maintenance costs while supporting safe, reliable and efficient plant operation
  • Supervise mechanical and electrical contractors working on the operational site
  • Support plant ramp-up, debottlenecking, cost improvement and future expansion initiatives
  • Maintain an unwavering commitment to the safe execution of maintenance activities

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience leading maintenance teams within a processing, chemical or mining environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and develop proactive and adaptable technicians
  • Strong experience diagnosing equipment failures and identifying root causes through practical observation and technical analysis
  • Experience coordinating planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including shutdown work
  • A sound understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling and work management principles
  • Experience improving equipment reliability and increasing planned maintenance within a ramp-up or operational environment
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively across maintenance, operations and commissioning teams
  • Experience managing contractors, maintenance costs and site resources
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
  • A strong commitment to safety, team development and operational excellence
