The Maintenance & Tooling Technician Coordinator leads the maintenance and tooling team supporting all production equipment and tools. The role is responsible for managing the preventive and reactive maintenance program, directing daily technician workload, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in maintenance, tooling support, or manufacturing operations. Previous leadership, lead technician, or coordinator experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance/tool tracking software.

Travel: 0-5%

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & People Management

  • Supervise and develop Maintenance and Tooling Technicians, including task assignments, workload planning, coaching, and performance support.
  • Dispatch technicians for reactive maintenance, tooling needs, and fabrication work.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure consistent adherence to LOTO and workplace safety and environmental procedures.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers, who maintain a priority dotted‑line relationship for engineering‑driven maintenance and tooling support.

Maintenance Program Management

  • Oversee and schedule preventive maintenance for production equipment, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

  • Prioritize and manage maintenance work orders; communicate status and delays to Production and Engineering.
  • Communicate equipment downtime risks, tooling shortages, and resource constraints proactively.
  • Support troubleshooting of recurring issues and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers on corrective actions and improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, PM documentation, and maintenance histories.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and performance summary for management.
  • Track maintenance KPI such as downtime, MTTR, and MTBF.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized equipment or tooling repair.
  • Assure availability of spare parts and manage maintenance inventory.

Tooling Program Ownership

  • Manage the tooling cage, tooling inventory, and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs.
  • Oversee the monthly tooling budget, including tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Process tooling purchase requests and submit approved orders to Procurement.
  • Ensure tools are available, functional, and appropriately issued to production teams.
  • Maintain calibrated tool inventory, coordinate calibrations, track schedules, and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.

Required Skill and Competencies

  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Knowledge of Preventative & predictive maintenance approach.
  • Understanding of manufacturing equipment and maintenance processes.
  • Good communication and coordination ability.
  • Analytical skills for reporting performance tracking.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
