The Maintenance Associate is responsible for maintaining the facility and production equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment part replacement to minimize downtime and keep equipment operating according to company standards. The Maintenance Associate also assists with general facility maintenance and responds to equipment issues as needed to support the day-to-day operations of the truss plant.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to unscheduled maintenance and repair needs for production equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical or operational issues with production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment parts and components as needed.
- Maintain production machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
- Follow and enforce all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when servicing or repairing equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with production teams to restore equipment to operation in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with supervisors and production teams regarding equipment issues, repair status, and maintenance needs between shifts.
- Perform general facility maintenance and minor repairs involving building systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Identify materials, parts, labor, and estimated costs for maintenance projects and obtain manager approval before beginning work when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area and ensure tools, equipment, and replacement parts are properly stored.
- Document completed preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment issues, and parts replaced as required.
- Follow company safety procedures and identify or report equipment and facility conditions that could create a safety or operational concern.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Previous maintenance, manufacturing, construction, truss production, framing, or related experience preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, production equipment, machinery, and general maintenance practices.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and identify potential causes and solutions.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to use or learn to use a tape measure and other basic measuring tools.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn company maintenance or production systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize equipment or facility issues that may require maintenance or repair.
- Ability to prioritize maintenance needs and respond appropriately to equipment breakdowns and other time-sensitive issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, production employees, and other team members regarding equipment issues and repairs.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with production and maintenance teams.
- Commitment to following company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
