The Starbucks experience starts in our Roasting Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering and logistics.

In this role, you will manage compliance of plant systems and inspections, oversee contractors and ensure they meet Starbucks requirements, and handle procurement to keep plant operations safe and efficient. You’ll also manage quotes, POs, CMMS updates, inventory, and service contracts for plant equipment.

As a maintenance buyer, you will…

  • Maintain records and ensure regulatory compliance of plant systems such as annual fire system testing, annual hoist inspections, back flow preventers, etc.
  • Ensure any contracted service providers meet Starbucks requirements such as OSHA 300 logs, liability insurance and daily permit to work compliance.
  • Execute procurement services to meet business requirements including inventory control (e.g., vendor set-up, electronic ordering and tracking, cycle counting), cost analysis, and capacity analysis (e.g., scheduling and planning).
  • Obtain quotes, create requisitions, and generate purchase orders for contracted services.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to improve cost and quality of contracted service providers.
  • Maintain and support ongoing development of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Work in conjunction with parts buyer to ensure replacement parts are ordered and stocked in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and renew annual service contracts for critical plant processing equipment such as air compressors, X-rays, packaging machines and HVAC systems.

We’d like to hear from people with:

  • 5 years’ experience with data collection, analysis and technical report writing
  • 5 years’ experience working in a large-scale manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Experience in coordinating vendor service visits
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to accurately gather, input and report on inventory and system data through manual or automated systems
  • Knowledge using MRP (materials requirements planning) and ERP (enterprise resource planning) packages
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects
  • Strong technical aptitude with electrical and mechanical knowledge base.
  • Ability to quickly identify electrical and mechanical components with understanding of maintenance processes and requirements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-year associates degree or 4-year college degree.
  • Ability to accurately gather, input and report on inventory and system data through manual or automated systems
  • Knowledge using MRP (materials requirements planning) and ERP (enterprise resource planning) packages
  • Strong technical aptitude with electrical and mechanical knowledge base
  • Ability to quickly identify electrical and mechanical components
  • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF)

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
