Job Description

Maintenance Assistant

Department: Site Support Roles

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Cherries

Compensation: £13.45 / hour

The Cherries is located in Folkestone, in Kent. It offers residential support for six autistic males and females. We are located on a quiet street, near the town centre.
Our team are dedicated to supporting residents and their families by aspiring to deliver the highest quality of care and aiming to empower the people we support to live their lives to the fullest.

What you'll be doing

Do you take pride in fixing things, turning your hand to different tasks, and making spaces feel safe, welcoming, and well cared for? If so, we’d love you to join our team!

Tools will be provided for you to get the jobs done around our sites.

As part of our dedicated and compassionate team, you’ll play a key role in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. While this isn’t a direct care role, your work makes a real difference to the wellbeing of our residents and staff – creating a safe, comfortable, and homely environment for everyone.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Every day will be varied, drawing on your multi-skills to:
  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks.
  • Keep our sites safe, well-presented, and welcoming.
  • Tackle jobs from painting, decorating, and wallpapering through to plumbing (fixing leaks, changing taps) and putting up furniture.
  • Spot and report any issues that need attention and take action to put things right.
  • Work alongside a supportive team to make sure everything meets quality and safety standards.

You may also be required to travel to other local homes in the area to carry out Maintenance work if required.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

We’re after someone who is:

  • Practical, hands-on, and confident with general DIY.
  • Skilled across a mix of areas such as painting, decorating, carpentry, plumbing, or general repairs.
  • Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Happy to work independently but also a great team player.
  • Friendly, approachable, and motivated by making a positive difference.

If you’re multi-skilled, reliable, and enjoy variety in your work, this is a fantastic opportunity to use your talents in a role where no two days are the same!

What we will give you in return

We want you to succeed at Priory and thrive in your role. You will be well supported with regular career conversations. We also offer full training and numerous pathways into leadership and qualified clinical positions to help you shape your career with us.

  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Flexible benefits including reduced rates and access to new schemes including gym membership, IT technology (laptops / tablets / smartphones) and Healthcare Cash Plan (Simply Health Scheme)
  • Access to development opportunities
  • Sponsorship of professional qualifications through our Individual Professional Development (IPD) panel
  • Leadership & management development
  • Long service award
  • Refer a friend bonuses

Shortlisting may begin upon receipt of applications, and the Recruiting Manager may close the vacancy early if enough suitable candidates are identified.
