The Arc of the Ozarks is looking for a Maintenance Assistant I to join our Facilities team and help us maintain safe, functional, and welcoming environments for the individuals we support and our employees.
What’s This Job All About?
As a Maintenance Assistant I, you will work in various office and residential facilities performing general maintenance and repair tasks. You’ll use your handyman skills to keep our buildings in great shape — from minor repairs and light drywall patching to basic carpentry, painting, and routine facility upkeep.
This is a hands-on, active role where no two days are the same.
What Will My Day-to-Day Look Like?
You’ll find success in this role through your strong work ethic, integrity, and sense of responsibility. Your duties will include:
- Troubleshooting maintenance issues and determining necessary repairs
- Performing general repairs that do not require a specialized technician
- Assisting with general remodeling projects
- Maintaining facility roadways, parking lots, and assisting with snow removal
- Performing routine maintenance on building systems
- Caring for grounds and landscaping
- Assisting with safety and maintenance training for other departments as needed
What Do I Need to Be Successful?
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, and carpentry
- (This may be demonstrated through previous work experience and/or training certifications)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role
- Experience in a residential and/or commercial setting preferred
- Ability to stand, stoop, lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent

Definition
The Maintenance I is in a position of considerable responsibility which demands a variety of abilities.  These abilities include but are not limited to repair and maintenance of group homes, ISLs, administrative facilities, and other Arc facilities.
General remodeling, maintenance of roadways, parking lots and snow removal are included in these responsibilities.
This individual may also be asked to drive a vehicle to transport clients or staff.

About The Arc of the Ozarks

The Arc of the Ozarks was formed and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to support individuals with disabilities in directing their own lives as a valued members of the community.

In 1959, a small group of parents recognized the need for services for children with developmental disabilities. A support network was established for these children and their families, resulting in the 1963-64 establishment of The Arc.

Today, The Arc serves individuals with a variety of disabilities. Services include residential, education, training, day habilitation, therapeutic recreation, advocacy, autism services, employment, psychological counseling - generally helping these individuals live, learn and work in our community.

The Arc is affiliated with the Arc of the U.S. and our programs are accredited by CARF.
