Prince William County’s Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance & Operations Specialist to join our team at the County’s Municipal Sanitary Landfill in Manassas, Virginia. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and operational tasks related to facility infrastructure and landfill environmental control systems. About This Role:
The Maintenance & Operations Specialist performs skilled hands-on maintenance and repair work at the County’s solid waste facilities. Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves the use of hand and power tools, operation of small construction and maintenance equipment, and routine inspection of environmental control systems and facility infrastructure. The position requires sound judgment, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to understand and follow regulatory requirements, technical manuals, and construction drawings. The role also requires practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, general building maintenance, and the use of work order management software. This position works under the supervision of the Assistant Maintenance & Operations Superintendent.

Work Schedule:
This position offers steady, year-round work and is eligible for overtime, weekend pay, and holiday pay. The typical work schedule for this position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Working some weekends and holidays may be required. Shift days and hours are subject to change based on business needs. Working outside of regularly scheduled hours with little or no notice may be required in the event of inclement weather or a department or County emergency.
Starting Salary Range
$36.35 to $48.40 hourly
