Job Shift: 1st Shift Northstar Aerospace, now part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the installation and maintenance of the facility’s equipment, building and grounds of the facility, and ensuring that the plant facilities and equipment are always in good order and condition. This position oversees the Maintenance department responsible to meet established schedules in a cost-effective manner.
This position is in Northstar Aerospace, Phoenix operation, and reports to the Continuous Improvement Leader. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and supervises employees in the Maintenance Mechanic and Electrician job classifications. This is a full-time position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct regular inspections and ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Mentor and ensure training of Maintenance personal.
- Ensure the proper working of all electrical units and systems in the facility.
- Oversee all building-related activities, preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensure that facilities are safe and well-functioning.
- Contact service providers and contractors and schedule on-site work.
- Plan and coordinate all installations.
- Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Lead activities of sub-contracts including custodians, maintenance technicians, groundskeepers etc.
- Oversee the planning and maintenance of the preventive maintenance program of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and buildings.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance program per equipment manufacturer’s recommendations, working knowledge of equipment and historical knowledge of equipment.
- Manage Phoenix site environmental regulatory requirements including but not limited to site Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and Resource Conservation and Recovery ACT (RCRA) Focal.
- Site focal for Wastewater discharge, Storm water discharge, SPCC, Air quality permits, Radiation control.
- Work with SHEA Manager to maintain compliance with permits, government regulations and other industry practices.
- Spearhead facility-based tasks for corporate SHEA Manager.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents. Ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.
- Participates in Lean Manufacturing activities and principles, leading Total Productive Maintenance activities.
- Responsible for identifying what parts of the plant’s facilities need additional work and necessary improvement.
- Keep a record of all day-to-day maintenance and service activities undertaken in a facility.
- Manage the Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Comply with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while carrying out maintenance functions.
- Place orders for spare parts and equipment for replacement and ascertain the proper documentation of the same.
- Synchronize work processes with other departments.
- Recruit and hire Maintenance personnel.
- Lead a team of subordinates and delegate work task.
- Evaluate the performance of the subordinates.
- Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates.
- Provide direction on priorities, policies, and accountability to subordinates.
- Provide equipment, manpower, and facilities for a safe, productive workplace.
- Direct and integrate problem solving efforts affecting operations effectiveness, efficiency, quality, and profitability.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will direct the work of 4 or more employees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent experience. BS/BA in facility management, engineering, business administration or relevant field is preferred.
Experience Required: Minimum of five years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in manufacturing facilities, preferably associated with machining processes. Experience with direct supervision and/or leading a team of direct reports. Prefer candidates to possess project scheduling work experience.

- CNC and Manual machine repair and maintenance.
- Facilities equipment and building infrastructure.
- Design and fabrication of manufacturing equipment.
- Lean and six sigma or other process improvement and problem solving experience.
- Significant leadership and team-building experience.
- Experienced facilitating, training, and developing Lean techniques, including standard work, 5S, SMED, TPM, etc.
- Managed Kaizen event planning and event execution with measurable results.
- Performance attributes include self-starter, positive, but demanding, decisive, collaborative, inscrutable integrity, strong work ethic.
