The Maintenance Advisor provides senior technical expertise and assurance for FPSO marine and utility systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operation of the Terra Nova FPSO asset. This role acts as a key onshore authority supporting offshore execution, strengthening engineering discipline, and driving system integrity, reliability improvements, and risk reduction in a harsh offshore environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10–15 years of offshore oil & gas experience, with strong preference for FPSO operations
  • Demonstrated experience in a first-class marine engineer role on offshore asset
  • Strong background in marine machinery, power systems, and auxiliary systems
  • Must hold and maintain a valid STCW First-Class engineer, Motor Ship / Officer
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Tanker Endorsement (Advanced training for oil tanker cargo operations)
  • Able to successfully complete and maintain all required training and certifications required for travel/work offshore Newfoundland
  • Exceptional knowledge on Marine Power Generation and Distribution systems, rotating equipment, marine and utility systems and Marine regulatory frameworks and class requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Advising the business placing safety and integrity at the center of all decisions
  • Trusted Subject Matter Expert for complex issues
  • strong integration across offshore/onshore teams with a focus on uptime, reliability, and risk reduction
  • Provide real-time technical support and troubleshooting for complex or high-risk marine system issues.
  • Support offshore during critical operations, including start-up, shutdown, offloading, and turnaround (TA) events.
  • Review and endorse temporary repairs, engineering deviations, and operating procedures.
  • Although this role is predominantly an onshore assignment working in the Suncor Office in St John’s, this role may be expected to provide occasional offshore coverage in the role of Chief Marine Engineer onboard the Terra Nova FPSO

Location and other Key details:

  • This role is located onshore in St. John’s, NL
  • You will work a Monday to 40 hour work week, 8 hour days
  • Periodic offshore travel will be necessary, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide offshore coverage for First-Class Marine Engineer positions when required
