Core Systems Tribe – Integration Mainframe

At Euroclear’s Core Systems Tribe, we focus on strengthening and evolving the company’s core IT environments. Our mission is to ensure the stability, scalability, and controlled evolution of Euroclear’s core technologies, supporting critical business operations.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to start or further develop a career in mainframe integration and infrastructure operations You will work closely with experienced colleagues, contribute to the deployment and operational readiness of applications, and progressively build expertise in mission‑critical mainframe environments.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of experienced team members, you will:

  • Contribute to the impact analysis, preparation, and deployment of applications in test, pre-production, and production mainframe environments.
  • Support quality control activities and assist in the implementation of the following components and deliverables:
    • Scheduling definitions (e.g. CA‑7, XPS, IWS)
    • Operational scripts (e.g. JCL, REXX, ISPF)
    • Operational procedures (application start, stop, restart)
    • Environment deliveries from test to production
  • Participate in the lifecycle management of mainframe environments, ensuring consistency and reliability across environments.
  • Apply and follow existing integration standards, guidelines, and procedures, and contribute to their maintenance and improvement.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of supporting tooling, test environment management utilities, or simple automation scripts under supervision.
  • Support test execution activities by acting as first-level support for environment-related incidents and requests.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth application integration and issue resolution.
  • Provide second-level operational support in collaboration with senior team members, helping to ensure production stability.
  • First starting with daylight support and once you will have gain enough expertise (after around 1 or 2 years), you will Participate in Night Production Watch Duty on a rotational basis, with support from the team. This will also include evening or weekend activities during deployment of releases.

  • Handle standard and well-defined situations by applying documented procedures and established methods.
  • Escalate non-standard or complex issues to senior colleagues and domain experts, while contributing to analysis and resolution.
  • Develop understanding across several known technical domains with structured support.

  • Make day-to-day decisions within clearly defined processes, guidelines, and supervision
  • Apply existing policies and standards, escalating when deviations or risks are identified.

Autonomy & Collaboration

  • Work effectively on assigned activities with regular guidance and supervision
  • Organise and plan individual tasks within agreed priorities.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn, ask questions, and progressively increase autonomy.
  • Contribute positively to team collaboration in a multicultural environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Initial experience or strong interest in mainframe environments (z/OS), either through studies, internships, or early professional roles.
  • Basic knowledge or exposure to job scheduling tools (e.g. CA‑7, IWS) is an advantage.
  • First experience or foundational knowledge in scripting or programming such as JCL, REXX, SQL, or similar.
  • Any additional exposure to mainframe technologies is considered a plus.

Please note that this is a permanent position, and we do not offer freelance/contract arrangement for the role.
