The IT Infrastructure Senior Consultant I is responsible for infrastructure design, selection and implementation by leading incident support and resolution efforts. The position helps on tasks related to automated monitoring and alerting solutions, metrics creation and reporting, applications integration and problem management. The role helps manage, prioritize, and respond to inquiries by helpdesk, specialists and others, as well as maintains governance documentation, implements major configuration changes, and supports infrastructure-related communications and training.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level z/OS Network Engineer to join our infrastructure engineering team. In this role, you will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of networking services that enable critical z/OS mainframe environments. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies, TCP/IP configuration, connectivity troubleshooting, and mainframe communication services that support business-critical applications. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with an interest in networking, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration and support of z/OS network environments.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and connectivity across mainframe systems.
  • Support TCP/IP configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis of network-related issues.
  • Collaborate with application, systems, security, and infrastructure teams to resolve connectivity challenges.
  • Assist with implementing network changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance activities as skills develop.
  • Learn and apply network security and compliance standards in a mainframe environment.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity testing activities.

Experience (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
  • Exposure to IBM z/OS or mainframe technologies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python, REXX, PowerShell, or Shell scripting.
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
