We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Automation Expert to join our Mainframe Services organization.

The role focuses on reducing manual operational effort, accelerating incident resolution, improving system availability, and supporting modernization initiatives through advanced automation and orchestration.

The ideal candidate combines strong mainframe technical expertise with modern automation technologies and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Design & Development

• • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for IBM z/OS environments.
  • Automate operational procedures, startup/shutdown sequences, workload management, and recovery processes.
  • Create and maintain event-driven automation rules and operational workflows.
  • Develop custom utilities, scripts, and tooling using REXX, CLIST, JCL, and other automation technologies.
  • Standardize operational procedures across customer environments.

Mainframe Operations Automation

• • Implement and maintain automation policies for system monitoring and event management.
  • Automate handling of console messages, alerts, and exception conditions.
  • Reduce manual operational activities through intelligent automation solutions.
  • Support 24x7 production environments by enhancing operational resilience. On Call

Platform Modernization

• • Participate in mainframe modernization and automation transformation programs.
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging automation technologies.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement activities.

• • IBM z/OS Administration

  • TSO/ISPF
  • SDSF

  • REXX Programming
  • RACF fundamentals

Mainframe Automation Tools

Experience with one or more:

• • IBM System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS)
  • Broadcom CA OPS/MVS
  • IBM Service Management Unite (SMU)
  • OMEGAMON

Modern Automation Technologies

• • Ansible for IBM Z
  • REST APIs
  • Infrastructure Automation
  • ServiceNow integration

Experience Requirements

Mandatory

• 10+ years of experience in Mainframe Operations or Mainframe Systems Programming.
• 5+ years of experience with enterprise automation solutions.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience in incident, problem, and change management processes.

Nice to have

• Mainframe automation migration projects.
• Mainframe modernization initiatives.
• Large-scale outsourcing or managed services environments.
