GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Mailroom and Print Center Assistant will assist in both the Mail and Print center. Performing a broad range of departmental duties, which include knowledge of United States Postal, campus and express mail to the college community. Knowledge of Print service equipment, such as, Printing, cutting, and computer programs. Dependability and attendance are critical components of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Mail and Print Center:

  • Assist with receiving, sorting and distributing United States Postal Service, campus mail and all other delivery services for the College.
  • Forward mail as required to the appropriate recipients.
  • Prepare and print express mail shipping labels via a web-based vendor account.
  • Track packages with specialized equipment and software.
  • Dependability and attendance are critical components of this position.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position.
  • Operate and maintain high volume digital black, white, and color copiers, power cutter, and bindery equipment, as well as software updates needed to perform daily tasks
  • Utilizing the necessary software to evaluate costumer requests to their specific needs for size and
  • Layout
  • Knowledge of software needed to perform job, such as, Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
  • Adobe Acrobat/Professional and photoshop
  • Pick up supplies from Vendors.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Fluent ability to speak, read, write legibly and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in performing detail-oriented work for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work effectively and cordially with a diverse population of coworkers and customers.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively during periods of high-volume.
  • Basic computer, data entry skills including Windows, Microsoft office, and Adobe creative loud software.
  • Ability to complete duties effectively and in a timely manner with limited supervision.
  • Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Ability to operate basic tracking equipment.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED. This is an entry-level position. One year of relevant clerical and/or mail/postal experience is highly preferred.

Licenses/Certifications Must have a Valid California driver's license and personal Transportation.

Supervisory Responsibility None.

Time Type: Full-time, 10 months

Work Schedule: This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt staff position working 40 hours per week, 10 months per year, from August through May. The position is not scheduled to work during the months of June and July. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, hours may vary based on departmental and College needs.

Compensation: Starting Pay Rate: $22.50-$23.00 per hour

Physical Requirements: This is generally a moderately physical position and requires satisfactory completion of a post-offer physical exam. Must be able to do the following, including the items identified on the table below:

  • Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, twist, stretch, grasp, and climb step ladders;
  • Reach out, over shoulder and overhead;
  • Push and pull a cart weighing up to 100 pounds;
  • Lift items weighing up to 50 pounds from the ground to waist level unassisted;
  • Work on feet for prolonged periods of time; and
  • Have manual dexterity for typing, operating office equipment and handling envelopes, packages and other correspondence repeatedly.
