Mail Clerk - Day Shift

What is in it for you:
• Hourly salary of $16.75.
• Contract duration: approximately 4.5 months.
• Work schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• Location: on-site position in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
• Training: 2 weeks of paid training provided from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• Cross-Training: training provided across multiple document processing functions.
Responsibilities:
• Open, prepare, categorize, and analyze incoming mail and documents to identify the appropriate business area and work type.
• Prepare and sort mail for digital imaging and subsequent processing.
• Apply the appropriate tracking methodology for specific mail streams and processes.
• Ensure work is accurately redirected to the appropriate processing queues to minimize processing delays and financial impacts.
• Perform indexing and quality checks on front-end and back-end documents.
• Enter values based on client policy, account, group number, and client information.
• Process cheques and documents according to established procedures.
• Verify cheque accuracy for scanning and indexing purposes.
• Prepare cheques for deposit and complete deposit processing activities.
• Operate high-speed document scanners in a fast-paced environment.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues related to document imaging equipment.
• Monitor workflow queues and address imaging issues directed from business unit processing areas.
• Distribute cheques intended for customers and advisors.
• Maintain workflow consistency while meeting service level agreements and established deadlines.
• Provide front-line customer service by ensuring service levels are consistently met.
• Prioritize workloads, adapt to changing demands, and manage multiple tasks while maintaining speed and accuracy.
• Assist with projects and effort or time tracking as required.
• Perform administrative duties including maintaining barcode stock, sending paperwork to customers, faxing, photocopying, and tracking and filing mail and courier logs.
• Verify information on original documents and redirect imaged material through AWD to alternate processing areas.
• Learn and process documents across all business unit lines within Imaging Services.
What you will need to succeed:
Required qualifications
• High school completion.
• Experience operating office equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting minor hardware and software issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web applications, and scanning equipment.
• Ability to operate high-speed document scanners in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to process, categorize, index, and verify documents accurately.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting throughout the workday of up to 50 lbs.
